To address this, several absorber designs, such as semiconductor metal tandems, metal-dielectric composites, , ] and multilayer absorbers, to mention a few, have been researched and developed for wider solar-thermal applications. So far, no single material has been reported to meet these requirements and operate well at high operation temperatures beyond 400 ☌. Ideally, selective solar absorbers should absorb much in the solar UV–Vis–NIR spectrum region and emit none/low in the infrared region extending above 2500 nm. ![]() To convert solar radiation into heat energy, one requires an efficient selective solar absorber that can withstand high-temperature operation while maintaining selectivity. Solar thermal conversion through concentrating solar power (CSP) systems is among the fast-growing technologies as the alternative way to minimize the dependence on fossil fuels.
